A SHARED HISTORY WRITTEN IN PERFUME
Henry Jacques’ connection with the UAE extends far beyond its boutiques; it was built over almost five decades through an intimate understanding of its traditions and olfactory culture – a relationship rooted in recognition.
Henry Jacques Cremona, founder of the Maison, first became captivated by the UAE in the 1960s. Its deserts, mountains, palms, architecture and heritage left a lasting impression, inspiring many creations.
At the heart of the story is the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, whose extraordinary passion for authentic and bespoke perfumery led to a remarkable relationship with Henry Jacques. Over the years, the Maison created 64 fragrances for him, both for his personal collection and as gifts for those closest to him, with more than 1,000 precious flacons shipped to his Palace.
His love of saffron, orange flower, jasmine, rose and oudh became part of the Maison’s own olfactive memory, a shared language between Henry Jacques and a country where perfume has always been deeply woven into culture, hospitality and identity.
A FLEETING TRIBUTE TO A LEGACY
In honour of his great legacy – and the lasting impression the late Sheikh Zayed left in the hearts of those who shared his passion for great perfumery – Henry Jacques unveils three creations preserved in its extraordinary archives. Dar Zayed, Abu Dhabi and White Saffron are available exclusively in its Abu Dhabi boutique in The Galleria, Al Maryah Island from October 2026 onwards, limited in numbers and offered for a limited time only.
Dar Zayed is rich, woody and intensely sensual. Saffron, a note dear to Sheikh Zayed’s heart, opens the composition with spice, leading into a deep heart of Cuvée Dehen el Oudh, myrrh and patchouli leaf. Damascena rose, Sheikh Zayed’s favourite, softens the depth with white musk and amber, creating a powerful and enveloping fragrance of warmth, richness and unmistakable character.
Abu Dhabi is powerful and enveloping, capturing the depth and warmth of the city that inspired its name. Aromatic notes of chamomile and Egyptian geranium open with a fresh, herbaceous brightness, before honey, pine needle and leather bring richness and texture. The composition then deepens into tobacco, cistus-labdanum and sandalwood, leaving a warm, woody and ambery trail – intense, generous and deeply evocative of Abu Dhabi.
White Saffron offers a more luminous interpretation of saffron. In the composition, the precious spice takes centre stage, brightened by the delicate freshness of orange blossom. Jasmine from Egypt and Damascena rose unfold at the heart, bringing a rich floral dimension before white musk and ambergris leave a soft and sensual trail, radiant, elegant and lingering.
Each presented in an exclusive duo set of Les Essences 15 ml and Les Brumes 75 ml, the fragrances are housed in a specially designed box honouring Abu Dhabi. The fragrances are available exclusively at the Henry Jacques Abu Dhabi boutique.
