Umbro’s Lifestyle Collection Inspires 90’s Nostalgia

Umbro the British sportswear brand, launched in 1924, have paved the way for all football and sports apparel over the past 90 years. The heritage global football brand has since made moves into athleisure wares showcasing new seasonal silhouettes with which, Umbro is reasserting its credentials as the leader of fashionable lifestyle athleisure.

Around the world, the desire for a less-formal lifestyle which brings casual pieces to the centre of our wardrobes is ever increasing. This practical, comfortable, simple and easy way of dressing is becoming one of the biggest fashion trends of the century. Umbro’s collection of athleisure has us transported back to the 90’s, having taken inspiration from the beach parties of Ibiza to the neon club nights of Seoul.

The collection is made up of a mixture of various textures ina selection of flashy colours. The new arty effects and painted denim creates a warm, sporty-chic street style. The legendary Umbro double diamonds logo features throughout the collection along with recoloured stripes and colourful airy pieces.

The womenswear collection bears a selection of cropped jerseys and sweatshirts. Dresses, shorts and leggings are also included in the range, all of which bear the Umbro logo. Umbro has expanded the women’s collection with the addition of utility skirts and playsuits, all of which share rail space with neon leotards and edgy crop tops. Highlights of the collection include the Alto Sweat (AED 185), a 90’s style cropped jumper in vibrant sky-blue colour with heavy edge embroidery logo at chest. Also in the collection are Umbro’s debut Alba Dungaree (AED 275) which are the loose-fitting dungarees perfectly for the cooler winter weather.

The menswear line features Umbro’s classic bright printed football shirts, jumpers, jerseys, cargo pants and more which have been given a makeover that includes tie dye, pastel colours and oversized fits. Made from performance fabric, the trendy collection is perfect for an effortlessly cool look. Favourites of the collection include the Ethos tee (AED 155) which harnesses the essence of British style with oversized tailoring, patches of colour and a bright colour palette. Another highlight in the collection is the Demo Shellsuit Jacket (AED 300) which was made famous when Justin Bieber donned it on The Ellen show.

Alongside the apparel collection Umbro shares their newest contemporary sneakers styles with the Archive Research Project (ARP) footwear collection. The sneakers are all 90s-inspired and powered by football’s impact on street culture. The ARP collection features Umbro’s iconic silhouettes with a refresh, turning a throwback classic into certified heat. The trainer collection includes highlights such as the Bumpy (AED 355) for women which comes in pastel colours such as peaches, lilacs and mauve colour blocking. While the men’s collection highlights include the Umbro’s Neptune Outdoor (AED 385) which has a number of earthy terracotta browns and light taupe tones alongside primary brights such as reds and blues.
