Essentiel Antwerp started out as a T-shirt brand in 1999 – a few ‘essentials’ in an array of colours. The word was the natural choice to coin the brand, with the second component in the company’s name taken from its home city of Antwerp, capital of the Belgian province.
Starting out in its founder’s Esfan and Inge Eghtessadi’s apartment, Essentiel Antwerp’s T-shirts quickly became fashion ‘must-haves’ and the company was able to open its first store. Four seasons later, knitwear, jackets, dresses, shirts and trousers in trendy colours, new materials and an entire new range of accessories were added to the collection, affirming the brand’s place in the fashion firmament. Following its expansion to new markets and the launch of its first men’s collection in 2004, Essentiel Antwerp has now stamped its mark as an internationally renowned purveyor of refreshing, offbeat, luxurious fashion items, renowned for its graphic and floral prints, trendy mixes of colour and accessibility for both men and women.
