Ibn Battuta Mall by Dubai Retail, is once again turning its expansive walkways into the city’s most inviting indoor track, this time as part of the Dubai Mallathon, a citywide community fitness initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai. The initiative brings walking, running and family-friendly fitness activities to malls across the city throughout the summer.
From until 15 September, Ibn Battuta Mall will host daily walk and run sessions from 6 AM to 10 AM, culminating in a flagship main event on Saturday, 30 August. The main event introduces a structured, lap-based race format across three official distances, complete with competitive timing and prize awards for winners, before opening up to an organic community walk and run from 8:30 AM to 10 AM.
Spanning six themed courts inspired by legendary explorer Ibn Battuta’s journeys across the globe, the mall’s scale and walkability make it a natural fit for the Mallathon’s mission of turning everyday spaces into active ones. Runners and walkers will move through the mall’s distinctive architecture, with distance markers, dedicated run and walk lanes, and water refill stations placed every 500 metres along the course.
Participants who complete the main event will receive a finisher medal, with gold, silver and bronze medals awarded to category winners, alongside event T-shirts and digital certificates. Adding to the experience, participating runners will receive goodies from stores across the mall, including free eye tests from Al Jaber on select dates and, on Sunday, 30 August, a 300 AED NOOR gift voucher for the first 50 finishers. Registration is open to residents and visitors of all fitness levels, with wristband access available daily at the mall’s registration desk.
The initiative marks the latest in a string of activations that have kept Ibn Battuta Mall firmly on Dubai’s community and lifestyle calendar this year. The mall recently welcomed Zamania by Leo & Loona, a manga-inspired sportainment venue, hosted the Versus 3.0 gaming activation, and powered thousands of steps through its ‘12K Walk to Unlock’ campaign organized in collaboration with the FITZE app. Ibn Battuta Mall is also hosting the Moon Walk performances, part of the mall’s Dubai Summer Surprises and back-to-school programming. The Dubai Mallathon adds to this momentum, reinforcing the mall’s role as a go-to destination for movement, discovery and family entertainment, all under one roof.
The Dubai Mallathon is being held across seven malls in Dubai this summer under the “Move In Style” campaign banner, running from 15 June to 15 September 2026.
