Dubai Summer Surprises Steps Up The Fun, Sales And More For Festival’s Penultimate Weekend

As the clock ticks down to the end of this year’s Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS), shoppers can still enjoy a weekend exploring a huge range of super retail offers, back to school deals, live entertainment plus great food moments.

Residents and visitors headed to stores and malls around the city will be able to enjoy the very best of what the retail festival has to offer before it draws to a close on 4 September. Organised by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), DSS showcases Dubai as a fun, open, welcoming and safe destination with all of the participating venues, stores and malls following the important health and safety procedures, including social distancing and the wearing of masks at all times.

Here DFRE outlines some of the best activities, deals, sales, events, activations and more taking place across the city this weekend:

LIVE PERFORMANCES

Enjoy a weekend filled with side-splitting jokes and hilarious stories performed by comedians Nick Guerra, Jack Jr and Lisa Curry. The trio will show off their stand-up comedy skills for audiences at the Laughter Factory when they take to the stage for 8.30pm shows at the Grand Millennium Barsha Heights on 26 August and Grand Millennium Business Bay on 27 August. This weekend, the Coca-Cola Arena at City Walk will stage a live concert by the acclaimed singer Sunidhi Chauhan. Famous for her songs ‘Mehboob Mere’ and ‘Deedar De’, as well as other smash-hit tracks, Sunidhiwill entertain her many fans in Dubai on 27 August. Doors open at 8pm. Theme songs and soundtracks from some of the biggest movies will be performed at The Movies Night Live show, taking place at The Theatre at Mall of the Emirates on 26 August. Audience members will be entertained by renditions of global hits from films including Moulin Rouge, Ghost, The Godfather, An Officer and a Gentleman, The Fifth Element and many more from 8pm onwards. EXPO 2020 DUBAI

Tickets are now on sale for the six-month-long mega event, taking place in Dubai from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022. With three main districts – Sustainability, Mobility and Opportunity – visitors will be able to explore pavilions representing almost every country on Earth as well as discover Expo 2020 Dubai’s wide range of exciting initiatives, edutainment activities and watch stunning live shows. DINE & WIN

Foodies can satisfy their cravings this weekend with tasty treats, super snacks and dishes from around the world available as part of the DSS Dine & Win promotion. Until 4 September,

over 300 of the city’s best-loved restaurants and cafes located at 18 malls will invite diners to order a wide range of foods with a chance to win great prizes. Customers who spend AED100 at Dine & Win eateries will receive a scratch and win coupon with a chance to take home a ZOMATO PRO membership or RAK Bank gift cards loaded with AED200. As part of the back to school period, diners will receive two coupons with double the chances to win. FAMILY EVENTS

This weekend is the last chance for youngsters and families to explore Modesh World’s mega collection of rides, games and edutainment activities and meet Modesh and Dana. The family-themed experience takes place at Dubai World Trade Centre’s Sheikh Saeed Halls 1, 2, 3 and The Arena. Children can immerse themselves in a super theme park experience complete with retail and F&B zones.
